Downtown Ann Arbor will once again be home to the locally owned and operated Grabbagreen, but things will be a little different. The new vision for Grabbagreen Food + Juice will be from the same local owner, Spencer Raymond.
The new vision for Grabbagreen will reopen at the same location it’s been home to since its opening in 2019. The original opening reflected the success of its two Metro Detroit sister locations, which were opened in 2017. However, after COVID, Raymond had to revisit how we got our food from Grabbagreen.
COVID forced all Grabbagreen locations to close. The Birmingham location ended up permanently closed as the team transformed the hardships they were facing into blessings.
Grabbagreen Ann Arbor 2.0
Raymond took these happenings as a way to “infuse a new culture and reinvigorate the brand” at the Ann Arbor Grabbagreen location. Grabbagreen Food + Juice Ann Arbor will be the first of two locally owned and operated ‘rebrands’ from the previous fast-casual franchise.
The inspiration behind their rebrand is from a Guatemalan Fruit Market and will feature contemporary design and decor that delivers a tropical beach-house atmosphere. Guatemalan wood will be purposefully featured on the floor, tabletops, bar face, and wall cladding. Earthy tones and lush tropical greens will encompass the mood, giving you the feel of being far away while being close to home. Window bar seating and a communal banquette area will set the space apart as the perfect hang-out regardless of what you’re out. Whether you visit for a quick breakfast, before and after classes with classmates, an afternoon coffee pick-me-up, or an overdue late-night study session.
The new Grabbagreen Ann Arbor location will reflect what this past year has highlighted: “transformation of letting things go that aren’t working.” This will work in conjunction with an entirely new menu with purposeful products. Grabbagreen Ann Arbor will serve a carefully curated variety of protein bowls offering salmon filet, steak, shrimp, and marinated chicken. There are also simply prepared salads, authentic smoothies, a mouth-watering chicken salad wrap, raw-pressed juices, and a variety of handcrafted toast.
The top feature of the menu will be highlighting the partnership with CRUST, an artisan baking company located in Fenton, Michigan. Grabbagreen also will offer delicious, not-so-average toast using CRUST’s all-natural, handmade breads as part of their menu.
Grabbagreen Ann Arbor will also be brewing coffee from The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company. Their signature Nitro Cold Brew will be on tap and will also be available in a series of Nitro Cold Brew Infused Lattes to try. This locally sourced, specialty coffee will also be used as specialty ingredients in a select number of smoothies.
Grabbagreen will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Their grand opening is set for August 17, so be ready to come try it out!
