Third Place [MusicFest] Opens Call for Performance Artists

Third Place [MusicFest] has open calls for musicians, performance artists, and comedians. Here’s how to apply.

Have art that you’re ready to show off? The Third Place [MusicFest] has opened its submissions for musicians, performance artists, and comedians.

The music festival is an annual festival located in downtown Ann Arbor. Third Place [MusicFest] has dedicated itself to ensuring that concerts are radically welcoming, accessible, and inclusive. They bring together local artists and businesses to celebrate the power of the third place. A third place is not your home or place of employment, rather a neutral, community-centered environment. The festival consists of eight concerts over four days.

Performing artists, solo or group, are welcome to submit acts for the festival. All genres and styles of creative expression are welcome. This includes dance, musical theatre, poetry, music, comedy, theatre, and everything in between. Some past venues include TeaHaus, Aut Bar, Blom Meedworks, Argus Farm Stop, 237 Bar at Braun Court, Kerrytown Farmers Market, and Canterbury House. All have included performance art, interdisciplinary collaboration between music and dance, and much more.

Sets will be 20 to 35 minutes long. When curating performances, the music festival looks for contrasting acts of the highest quality. Though they’re interested in hearing from acts all over the Midwest, priority will be given to artists in Southeast Michigan.

This year’s festival will take place from August 25 to 28. Applications are open from now until July 15. Decisions will be made and accepted applications will be notified by August 1.

Those interested in submitting an application can send them here. For more information on Third Place [MusicFest], check out their website.
