The 7th Annual ypsiGLOW dance party will return to Downtown Ypsilanti to illuminate the night. YpsiGLOW will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 on N. Washington Street from 7-10 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Where the Wild Things GLOW” and will feature interactive art displays.
“We are GLOWing with excitement to be able to bring the fun back to N. Washington Street to
harness the energy and fun of gathering and celebrating together. We are very proud of our
reputation as an event that brings the whole Ypsilanti community together and one that supports
artists, of which we have some spectacular ones for this year,” Jeri Rosenberg, Board
President for WonderFool Productions, producers of the event, said in a press release. “This year’s line-up of artist installations is going to WOW our guests.”
The entire event area will be filled with artist installation and performances.
Among the many talented artists bringing art installations is Allida Warn bringing “Sail into the Night.” This installation pulls participants into the land of the Wild Things as they sail on a glowing sailboat. This will be located on N. Washington St.
Another N. Washington St. artist is Patrick Elkins who will be doing short shadow puppet plays such as “Stone Candy Soup.”
Blue Moon Dance and Music will be presenting “Wild Thing, You Make My Heart Sing” by CM Sears and Friends and Steve and Her Hoops will perform circus-style multi-hooping with LEDs.
For a hands-on experience, “This, That & the ODDer Thing” and its owner Claire Broderick will invite participants to create their own wild beast wearables using fake fur, feathers, bones, lights and more.
There will also be artists at local businesses.
An interactive multimedia installation at Dreamland Theater, will bring guests into the strange Planet Uglopia of the Omega Prime star system where they will discover the wild flora and fauna of this extraterrestrial world through interactive displays, puzzles and creative stations.
From 7:15-8:30 p.m. there will be performances on the ypsiGLOW stage including Ypsilanti Community High School Choir, Boylesque Michigan and DJ Nitro.
