Nicola’s Books will be hosting author John U. Bacon, in partnership with The Michigan Theater. The event will take place on Thursday, September 9 at 7pm. Come check out what John U. Bacon has to say about his work, Let Them Lead.Â
John U. Bacon released Let Them Lead, an uplifting work about a coach who helped transform the nation’s worst high school hockey team into one of the best.Â
John U. Bacon once played for the Ann Arbor Huron High School River Rats, yet never scored a goal. Years later, he finds himself leading the downtrodden program. The team was so bad, they celebrated their title as the nation’s worst squad and almost everyone was expecting failure. However, Bacon made playing on the team difficult, which caused the players to push themselves and excel. Bacon put players in charge of team discipline, goal-setting, and even decision-making to encourage them to take responsibility for the team. In just three seasons, the River Rats bypassed 95% of the nation’s teams.
This true story has unforgettable characters, stories, and lessons that people can take home and use in their own lives. Let Them Lead includes the leader’s mistakes and the reactions of the players, who have since achieved success as leaders themselves.
While at the theater, John U. Bacon will take select interviews. With the purchase of a $35 ticket, attendees will get a signed and personalized copy of Let Them Lead. Purchasing a $5 ticket will only provide attendance at the event. However, signed copies of the book will be available the night of the event.
