Emagine Theater in Saline will be hosting the 2021 Manhattan Short Film Festival this fall!
The Manhattan Short Film Festival is an annual film festival featuring short films. These films are shown in over 300 screening venues around the world. This event will take place from September 23 and October 3 at Emagine Theater in Saline. Pick up free tickets to the event from the Saline District Library.
The festival recently announced the Final Ten selections for the event and will be showcasing these films worldwide. By virtue of their selection by the Manhattan Short Film Festival, each short film will be automatically Oscar-qualified.
Films at Manhattan Short Film Festival
The Manhattan Short Film Festival continues to showcase new voices and perspectives in film.
Death By Handshake (director Hudson Flynn) was 16 years old when he created his wry nod to New York City Living during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rough (from Northern Ireland), Archibald’s Syndrome (from France), and Monsieur Cashemir (from Canada) present films with a bit of humor hiding in. Out of Time and the animated Aurora are close studies by a pair of women directors based on life at different stages of our existence from French and American perspectives.
Short films also tackle big topics in unique ways, such as Norway’s The Kicksled Choir. Comparatively, Bad Omen examines how a woman copes with stark circumstances in Afghanistan. Closed To The Light will reach back in time to focus on an intriguing moment in World War II Italy, and the UK’s Ganef examines that war’s trickle-down effect on subsequent generations. Each film brings something unique to the table for audience members to enjoy.Â
Audiences will vote for the winning film on Wednesday, September 29 from 6:30 to 9pm, and Sunday, October 3, from 12:30 to 3pm. Doors will open 30 minutes before the start of the film.Â
This ticketed free event is intended for audience members 16 years old and older. Tickets are available through the Saline District Library. For more information, check out the Saline District Library website.
