Ann Arbor Art Fair to Return this Summer — with a Few Changes

The Ann Arbor Art Fair is set to return this summer with a few minor changes. Check out how to be part of the Art Fair and what to expect!

Organizers of the Summer Art Fair will be taking over the South University section of Ann Arbor’s Art Fairs this year, which are expected to return in July.

The Art Fair, which was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, usually includes four fairs: the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original; The Guild’s Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, South University Art Fair, and State Street Art Fair. However, this year, it will run as three separate fairs and will run from Thursday, July 15 until Sunday, July 18.

The Guild of Artists and Artisans has expanded to handle the production of the South University part of the fairs from 2021-2026. The South University Area Association dissolved in December 2020, and the Guild has decided to pick up and run with the South University Art Fair. Usually, the Guild only handles the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair on Main, Liberty, and State streets.

Organizers are moving forward with cautious optimism that they’ll be able to host some form of the event this summer. However, the Guild of Artists and Artisans will continue to respect the history and integrity of the Ann Arbor South University Fair while incorporating some of the guild’s structures. For example, vendor booths will not be allowed on South University to honor the understanding between the Ann Arbor South university Fair and the 2020 artists that were juried in and left a $100 deposit with South University.

The Guild has grown substantially over the last few years and are looking forward to including new artists into their family.

Applications for the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair are available online until Friday, March 19.

The Ann Arbor Original Art Fair and the State Street District Fair deadline have both already passed.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to see everyone from a safe distance this summer!
