Two New Dates Set for Free COVID-19 Pop-Up Testing Sites in Ypsilanti

If you need to get tested but are worried about insurance or pricing, Washtenaw County has announced two new pop-up testing sites in Ypsilanti for your convenience. Register to get tested today!

The Washtenaw County Health Department has announced two new pop-up COVID-19 testing opportunities on Saturday, September 19 and Saturday, September 26. These sites will take place in Ypsilanti from 9 am to 1 pm, and are absolutely free for everyone, no insurance necessary and no symptoms required.

For both events, please remember to register in advance and do not line up early. The National Guard will be present to assist in testing, as they have done in prior events in Washtenaw County and across Michigan. Results are expected to return in 3 to 4 days after testing, but may take up to 7 days.

“Coronavirus is still circulating in our community, and free testing for everyone remains important,” says Jimena Loveluck, MSW, health officer for Washtenaw County. “Since there is at least some risk any time you’re out in public or interacting with others, we must continue to use the tools we have to reduce the spread of illness and prevent as many cases as possible. That means continuing to use face coverings, maintain 6 feet distance, clean hands frequently, and follow all Health Department guidance, if you test positive or are exposed to a positive case.”

Remember to seek immediate testing if you have symptoms. If you were potentially exposed but remain symptom free, the Health Department recommends self-quarantine and waiting at least 7 to ten days before testing. Remember, symptoms may take up to two weeks after exposure to appear and individuals are considered contagious two days before symptoms start to appear.

If you plan on getting tested, remember to stay away from others until you receive your results. Anyone with symptoms should stay home unless they are getting medical care and limit all contact with others in their household.

The following dates will have free COVID-19 testing available at these locations:

Saturday, Sept 19 at Washtenaw County Health Department. Enter at 22 Center Street, Ypsilanti from Michigan Ave. Testing available from 9 am to 1 pm

Saturday, Sept 26 at the Ypsilanti District Library. 5577 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti. Testing available from 9 a.m. to 1 pm

To register for testing, visit here. Testing shouldn’t take much longer than five minutes.
