West Michigan Songwriter’s Festival Takes Place September 10-11 for First Time

The first-ever West Michigan Songwriter’s Festival encourages songwriters to practice their craft. Here’s when to attend the festival.

On Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11, the first annual West Michigan Songwriter’s Festival will take place in Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan.

Three hit Nashville songwriters, Erin Enderlin, Irene Kelley, and Brian Sutherland, will arrive to play their own songs. Collectively, the featured artists’ songs have been recorded by industry superstars. These superstars include Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack, Luke Bryan, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Darius Rucker, Trisha Year\wood, Little Big Town, and many more.

In addition to two nights of live performances, a workshop by Steve Leslie will be available on “The Craft of Writing a Country Song.” Tickets will include access to one night of the live performances and the workshop.

The festival is the combined efforts of songwriter and musician Dan Terry and Nashville songwriter and educator, Steve Leslie. Terry, a frequent performer at local events, will combine his love of the arts with his philanthropic vision with the creation of this festival. A longtime Edward Jones Financial Advisor and Executive, Terry expresses a passion for this cause and hopes to inspire others.

“My career has been very rewarding and has allowed me to serve others in ways I never anticipated,” Terry says in a press release. “Among my personal hobbies and talents, I have always loved playing the guitar and songwriting. This has blossomed over time to become my true love and the next phase in my life’s journey. Through the contacts and relationships I have built-in Nashville, my long-term goal is to build this Festival in a way that I will be able to someday provide educational scholarships to worthy West Michigan students.”

The West Michigan Songwriter’s Festival works to raise awareness of songwriting as a form of art. The festival highlights songwriters as artists and songwriting as a craft that everyone can learn to appreciate. The festival’s mission is to establish a foundation to help, in part, with providing educational scholarships for children.

Performances will take place Friday, September 10 from 7 to 9pm, and Saturday, September 11 from 7 to 9pm. The songwriting workshop is set to take place on Saturday, September 11 from 2 to 4pm.
