Performing bands:

Medicine Men: A groovy fusion of funk, rock, and psychedelic dance vibes, Medicine Men are a crowd favorite at LIVE Happy Hour and Zal Gaz Grotto. With tight musicianship and infectious rhythms, they bring vintage soul and modern jam-band flair together in a sound that’s impossible to sit still for. Their extended grooves, funky basslines and bold improvisations make them one of the most exciting live acts in the area.

spark: Ann Arbor’s beloved party band, spark, delivers danceable pop/rock hits from the ’80s and beyond. Known for spirited covers of Madonna, B-52s, Cheap Trick and more, they combine retro style with modern charisma. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Robin Grant and backed by an energetic lineup, their live shows are vibrant, theatrical and irresistibly fun — a guaranteed dance party from the first note to the last.

Switchbacks: Described by some as “Ann Arbor’s groove machine,” Switchbacks blend country-rock, blues, Zydeco and more into a foot-stomping good time. With harmonicas, squeezeboxes and slide guitars in the mix, their music evokes open highways and smoky barrooms. Their diverse setlists and boisterous stage presence create a lively and inclusive atmosphere where every song invites the crowd to move and sing along.

James Borland: A soulful singer-songwriter rooted in Americana, roots and blues traditions, James Borland captivates audiences with his heartfelt originals and warm acoustic sound. His voice carries the weight of experience and his songs explore themes of love, resilience and the beauty of everyday life. Often joined by collaborators on steel fiddle and vocal harmonies, Borland brings a rich, storytelling tradition to the stage that resonates deeply with listeners.

Viccisitones: This instrumental band offers a unique “surf-meets-space-age” vibe, blending vintage tones with futuristic flair. Think retro beach party meets sci-fi soundtrack — complete with twangy guitar riffs, grooving bass, saxophone solos and cosmic reverb. Their sets transport listeners to otherworldly dance floors and cool cocktail lounges, all without saying a word. Perfect for fans of The Ventures, Esquivel and eclectic mood music.

Nobody’s Bizness: Hailing from the Detroit area, Nobody’s Business is a rockabilly and roots powerhouse that has been delivering high-octane performances since 1994. Their repertoire includes energetic renditions of classics like “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Sleepwalk,” all infused with twangy guitar, upright bass and a driving rhythm section. Drawing influences from early rock & roll, Cajun two-step, country swing and power pop, they bring a timeless energy that’s both nostalgic and exhilarating.

“Through donations, the kindness of strangers, and a little help from our friends, we hope to raise as much as possible for the ACLU,” Tessier said.

The ACLU is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that works to defend and preserve the rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in the United States by the Constitution and laws. These include freedom of speech, religion, due process and other rights.
