Warmer weather combined with being surrounded by nature is a perfect combination to enjoy an outdoor concert.
Get ready for a dose of classical music at “River Sounds” by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra (A2SO) on June 3 at 7 p.m. at Concordia University’s Ann Arbor campus, 4090 Geddes Road.
This event is free and open to everyone. However, pre-registration is required.
Current A2SO Music Director Earl Lee will direct this family-friendly event where attendees are welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

- Dvořák, Slavonic Dances, Op. 46 No. 1 and 8
- Mozart, Overture to Don Giovanni
- Mascagni, Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana
- Bizet, Carmen Suite No. 1
- Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 4, Mov. IV

The A2SO has contributed to the city’s cultural music scene for over 90 years.
In 1928, it was founded as a community orchestra by five musicians affiliated with the methodist church. It has grown over the years to become the largest arts employer in Washtenaw County.
Since 1986, A2SO has earned the rank of a completely professional orchestra, whose musical directors have included: Carl St. Clair, Sam Wong, Arie Lipsky and Earl Lee.
Their current director, Earl Lee, was appointed with the 2022-23 season.
Lee earned degrees in cello from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Julliard School, and in conducting from the Manhattan School of Music and the New England Conservatory.
Early arrival is encouraged since general admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Snacks and beverages are permitted and food will be available on hand to enjoy.
No dogs, cats or other pets of any kind are allowed.
The concert can accommodate wheelchairs with hard seating for those with accessibility limitations.
