See classic tunes “American Pie,” “Castles In The Air,” “Vincent” and more performed live in Flint by Grammy award honoree, Songwriters Hall of Fame member, and BBC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Don McLean. McLean will be performing at the Flint Institute of Music on Thursday, August 31 at 8 p.m.
McLean will be performing through this well-known catalog of music and might even tell the story behind his most popular song. If you have already experienced a McLean concert this year, there is a new set every night to create one-of-a-kind shows.
McLean recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is celebrating the milestone of 50 million nationwide album sales.
In 2022, McLean celebrated the 50th anniversary of “American Pie.” In addition to the radio, this song can be heard on several recent films such as Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ and the new Apple TV+ sci-fi movie, ‘Finch.’
To prepare for the show, you can watch “The Day the Music Died: The Story of Don McLean’s American Pie,” produced by Spencer Proffer and executive produced by Bruce Gilmer on Paramount+.
This documentary reveals secrets behind the song and provides context for the era in which it was released.
