Here’s what’s happening locally this month in Washtenaw County: openings, closings, and business updates in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Plymouth and more.
Openings
Chelsea Party Loft, a new event venue in Chelsea, located at at 1115 S.
Main Street, in the Chelsea Village Plaza. This venue, which includes DJ-
style sound and lighting, can hold exciting birthday celebrations, graduation parties, business meetings, dance classes and more. Their held a ribbon cutting on April 30.
Coming soon
Kava Culture is coming soon to Downtown Ann Arbor at 332 Maynard St. They will sell elixirs and kava. Kava is non-alcoholic and describes on the website as “A natural muscle relaxer, kava gives you a sense of calm and wellbeing without affecting cognitive or motor skills.”
Water Tower Distillery will be opening at 23 N. Washington St., Ypsilanti on May 16. This will be Ypsilanti’s first distillery.

Sheetz will be opening a location at the southeast corner of W. Michigan Avenue and South Hewitt Road in Ypsilanti. This 24/7 gas station will serve made-to-order food and has a convenience store located inside. In addition to gas pumps, there will be EV charging stations.
The Vanguard Ann Arbor, Autograph Collection will be opening in Ann Arbor on May 13 at 201 Glen Ave, Ann Arbor. This upscale hotel will offer high-end amenities in the room such as Dyson-brand hairdryers and Le Labo-brand bath products. Additionally, it will have its own French-inspired restuarant, La Serre.
Noteworthy Wants and Wonders will be coming soon to Downtown Ann Arbor at 305 S. Main St. It is set to open in time for the Ann Arbor Art Fair.
Closings
Pizza Cat Max has closed at 640 Packard St, Ann Arbor, just six months after opening.
