Here’s what’s happening locally this month in Washtenaw County: openings, closings, and business updates in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Plymouth and more.

Openings

Galy’s is now open at 20 N. Washington Street. This is a West African restaurant opened by Chef Bangaly Kaba.

Jimmy Johns and Dunkin Donuts will be coming soon to Milan at 1000 Dexter. This space has been vacant since JR’s closed in 2024. Construction is in the works.

Cottage West Assisted Living is now open at 85 N Wagner Rd, Ann Arbor. This assisted living facility provides personalized care, dining, housekeeping and more for its residents.

Changes

Life is Sweet at 42 E Main St, Milan will now be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Before this announcement, the family-owned business was only closed on Mondays.

Closings

Hide and Seek – A Play Boutique has closed at 1954 S. Industrial Highway. This play area had a cafe with snacks for kids and adults, community events and Montessori-inspired toys for kids to play with.

Avalon Cafe and Kitchen is closing Ann Arbor location at –. They said in an Instagram post, “Many of your favorite Avalon brunch dishes will continue to be served just next door during Pretzel Bell Brunch, every Saturday and Sunday.”
