Here’s what’s happening locally this month in Washtenaw County: openings, closings, and business updates in Ann Arbor, Saline, Chelsea, Dexter, Ypsilanti, Milan and more.

Opening

Vertex Coffee Roasters opened a new location at 307 N. River St., Ypsilanti. The grand opening is May 11. Their other location is at 335 S University Ave, Ann Arbor.

Coming soon

Uplift plans to open late summer at 210 S. First St., Ann Arbor. Uplift will be a new LGBTQ bar in Ann Arbor.

DropTop Pizza will be opening in the old Smokehouse 52, 107 W. Michigan Ave., Saline. This new spot will serve Detroit-style pizza. An opening date has not yet been announced.

Echelon Kitchen + Bar will be serving “wood fired” and “vegetable forward” food at 200 S. Main St., Ann Arbor. It is expected to open this summer.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers plans to open a new location in Vic Village South high-rise on South University Avenue in Ann Arbor. Currently, the only Raising Cane’s in Michigan is in East Lansing. An opening date has not been announced.

MilkShake Factory is expected to open in July at 326 S. Maple St., Suite 326, Ann Arbor. The MilkShake Factory is a Pittsburgh-based company. They are known for their variety of milkshakes using housemade ice cream.

Beara Bakes is opening at 10 N. Washington St., Ypsilanti, the former Go! Ice cream location. It is expected to open this summer.

Changes

Marquee Arts is now the new name of what was previously known as Michigan Theater Foundation, management for the State and Michigan theaters. They are a non-profit organization.

Closing

Chelsea Alehouse Brewery is closing after 11 years downtown Chelsea at 115 S Main St., Chelsea.
The Bar at 327 Braun Court, 327 Braun Ct., Ann Arbor, is closing on May 11 after 12 and a half years of operation. The last day will be Wednesday, May 3.
