Trinity Health Ann Arbor’s Lifestyle Medicine Program Holds Virtual Classes

Trinity Health Ann Arbor will be holding Lifestyle Medicine virtual classes that will cover a range of evidence‑based wellness topics. Some of the topics include Weight and Wellbeing, Strategies for Blood Pressure Management, Evidence‑Based Approaches to Managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Cancer Survivorship and Thriving Through Menopause and Beyond.
“Each class this year is thoughtfully designed to empower individuals and families with practical, evidence-based tools to support their long-term health,” said Lisa McDowell, director of nutrition and lifestyle medicine at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Trinity Health Livingston and Chelsea Hospital. “By exploring the six pillars of lifestyle medicine — optimal nutrition, daily movement, connectedness, avoidance of risky substances, supportive stress management, and restorative sleep — these programs give participants the knowledge and confidence to improve their well-being in meaningful and sustainable ways.”

Classes in the Lifestyle Medicine Program

  • Lifestyle Medicine for Weight and Wellbeing: Beginning Feb. 17 and April 8.
    • To support healthy weight and overall well-being, participants will learn practical, science-based strategies rooted in Lifestyle Medicine, including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and more.
    • This is a six-week course. Each class is from 12-1 p.m.
  • Lifestyle Medicine Strategies for Blood Pressure Management: Beginning Feb. 17.
    • In this class, participants gain the skills, and confidence, to effectively manage their blood pressure through sustainable lifestyle changes, while learning practical strategies to eat well, sleep better, manage stress, stay active, and more, in a supportive group learning environment.
    • This is a five-week course. Classes go from 6-7 p.m.
  • Lifestyle Medicine for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Series: Evidence-based Approaches to Symptom Management: Beginning March 2, May 19 and Oct. 5.
    • Participants learn evidence-based strategies to manage IBS symptoms through dietary changes, stress management, restorative sleep, physical activity and other lifestyle interventions.
    • This is a five-week course. The classes go from 6-7 p.m.
  • A Lifestyle Medicine Approach for Cancer Survivors: Beginning April 7
    • Participants learn how to reclaim their health and well-being, whether they have completed primary treatment or are living with cancer as a chronic condition. This series will empower cancer survivors at any stage, with practical tools, expert guidance and a strong sense of community to move forward with confidence.
    • This is a free five-week course, each class going from 8-9 a.m.
  • Thriving through Menopause and Beyond: An Evidence-Based Lifestyle Medicine Approach: Beginning April 14
    • A supportive, evidence-based program designed to help participants thrive physically and mentally as they navigate the transition through menopause and beyond. This series is grounded in the principles of Lifestyle Medicine and empowers participants with practical tools, expert guidance and a strong sense of community to move through menopause with confidence.
    • This is a five-week course. Classes go from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Other than the free Lifestyle Medicine Approach for Cancer Survivors, classes are billed to your insurance. It is $44 per class without insurance.
