Three Colors Trilogy, Michigan Theater

Kieslowski’s trilogy on France’s national motto: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity and their flag colors Blue, White, and Red.

Blue  –  stars Juliette Binoche as a woman struggling to find a way to live her life after the death of her husband and child. White  –  After his wife  (Julie Delpy) divorces him, a Polish immigrant plots to get even with her. Red –  A model, Irene Jacob, discovers a retired judge is keen on invading people’s privacy.

One of the best movies of the 90s celebrates it’s 30th anniversary. In the directorial debut of the Wachowskis, (The Matrix, Speed Racer). Violet (Jennifer Tilly), the girlfriend of a mobster, sets her sights on Corky (Gina Gershon), an ex-con working as a super in her building who’s just out of prison. Violet seduces Corky and the two embark on a dangerous plan to steal two million dollars from her mobster boyfriend and frame him so they can run away together. One of the most taut cat and mouse thrillers of all time, Bound has you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

The 40th anniversary of the short story by Stephen King, directed by Rob Reiner. A coming of age story about four young boys who hear about a dead body on the railroad tracks and set off into the rural Oregon woods to find it. Along the way they’re chased by bullies, cross a marsh with leaches, and encounter a mean junk man, while learning about themselves, each other and friendship. Essential viewing.
