Spaceballs, 8/6
Mel Brooks’ spoof of the Star Wars series is a cult classic! A star-pilot for hire and his trusty half-dog sidekick must come to the rescue of a spoiled princess and save Planet Druidia from the clutches of the evil Spaceballs. The all-star cast features Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis and Daphne Zuniga as Princes Vespa. Made in 1987, four years after Return of the Jedi, a sequel is due out later this year.
Cat Video Fest, 8/7-8/9
It’s back! Cat Video Fest 2026. Oscilloscope Laboratorios put together the best cat videos out of millions of submissions from animation to music videos, to internet creators. Each theater partners with cat related charities and shelters will give a portion of the ticket price directly to cats in need. Marquee Arts is proud to support the Huron Valley Humane Society.

Home to the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, the communities grew increasingly anxious as police seemed unable to stop the killer—or killers—responsible.
Summer of Soul, 8/27
Originally released in 2021, Summer of Soul is a documentary covering The Harlem Cultural Festival — a series of music concerts in the summer of 1969, sometimes referred to as the Black Woodstock. It’s a labor of love for director Questlove who shows an impressive amount of cinematic style for an artist who’s new to this medium. There’s so much beautifully restored footage that had been lost for decades — BB King, The Staple Singers, The 5th Dimension, Stevie Wonder and more. This film got a little lost in the shuffle due to its 2021 release when not many theaters were open. Take this opportunity to see it in a theater.
Sullivan’s Travels, 8/18
One of the best films about Hollywood ever made. Joel McCrea stars as Sullivan, a rich kid, writer/director who longs to write a serious movie about the plight of the common man and embarks on country-wide journey to live on the streets as research. Veronica Lake is a sensation as the beautiful, streetwise girl he meets along the way. Written and directed by Preston Sturges, it is considered an essential film of the golden age of Hollywood.
A Chinese Ghost Story, 8/15
A debt collector has no other choice than to spend the night in a haunted temple, where he encounters a female ghost, whom he falls in love with. To save her soul, he must work with a monk to defeat the tree demon who owns her spirit. A Chinese Ghost Story is a classic martial arts fantasy/horror film. Superstar Leslie Cheung (Happy Together) is the mild-mannered guy turned hero. The film boasts incredible wirework stunts, crazy humor, and a tender love story. A classic of Chinese cinema best seen on the big screen.
Steamboat Bill Jr (Free), 8/9
In this silent comedy, college boy William Canfield Jr. (Buster Keaton) reunites with his boat captain father in a Mississippi River town. Though he’s flummoxed by Willie’s citified appearance, the elder Canfield seems to have found an ally to help him compete with fellow riverboat owner John James King (Tom McGuire). Willie finds himself falling for King’s daughter, Mary (Marion Byron), but he has more pressing concerns when the weather turns bad and his father in arrested.
It’s FREE and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 to help with the preservation of the historic Barton Organ. You can drop a donation when making a reservation online for the free ticket. See a great Buster Keaton film and help preserve the organ for future generations to enjoy!
