There are plenty of options for cannabis consumers who enjoy spooky, social, high-energy activities at Halloween. But what of those who prefer gentler fall activities while high?
Luckily, Ann Arbor has a host of gentle fall activities and outings to enjoy before, during or after a high.
What’s legal and what’s not
It’s legal to get high in your backyard, as long as you’re private from the view of other people. It’s not legal to get high in public, in front of other people. Think of weed like alcohol. Just as it’s legal to have a couple drinks at a restaurant and then walk the town, it’s legal to get high in your home and do the same. And it’s not legal to be drunk and disorderly; and same goes for weed.
The Arb
There’s not much that can beat being high in nature and the Arb is one of the most lovely places in Ann Arbor. There are specialty gardens, native trees and shrubs, and a variety of hills and flat walking trails to enjoy. Enjoy an edible before walking over. Meander on a trail, sit on a bench and watch the shadows dance on the leaves and the pollinators dance amongst the plants.
Gallup Park
Gallup Park is huge and has something for everyone. Watching the river flow by while high is a classic, but what about enjoying a picnic at one of the picnic shelters? There are butterfly gardens, rain gardens and hummingbird gardens to enjoy as well.
Dexter Cider Mill
Is there anything better than hot fresh doughnuts, cider, apple nut bread or caramel apples while high? I can’t think of anything! Check out the cider mill, bring home some delicious treats and invite some friends over to get high with you. If you have space for a bonfire, heat the cider up outside. Doughnuts are the perfect snack while you’re high.

Kerrytown
Kerrytown is full of delightful shops in its market, and you can’t go wrong with shopping and then eating a famous Zingerman’s sandwich while enjoying a bit of a buzz. This sort of activity is a lot more social because Kerrytown is always hopping; but then again, maybe you enjoy people watching while you’re a little big high!
Art–Tipsy Ypsi is one to try
Doing art is a fantastic, calming activity to enjoy. If you do your arts and crafts at home, you can get as high as you want, however and whenever you want. If you go somewhere in public, like to Tipsy Ypsi, you’ll need to consume your weed beforehand, and we don’t recommend mixing weed with alcohol. But the environment is focused on fun and laughter, so it can be a good space to be a little buzzed on weed, while other folks are buzzed on booze!
