Summertime is all too brief in Michigan, and many of us Michiganders like to make the most of our precious outdoor time.
Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy Ann Arbor and cannabis in the summer, along with some roadtrip ideas for events later this year!
Visit a local dispensary
Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti have dozens of licensed cannabis dispensaries. Do you prefer flower, edibles, or topical applications? With so many options, you’re sure to find a dispensary with products that are right up your alley.
Get high and go for a walk or hike
Keep in mind, it’s illegal to consume in public. But you won’t have an issue with a microdose and then going forth and meandering Ann Arbor’s hiking trails. From the Arb, to Bird Hills, to Matthaei Botanical Gardens, to Barton Nature Area, there are walking trails for everyone.

Hit up the Fleetwood diner
This diner is famous for its “hippie hash”–a pile of hashbrowns covered with onions, peppers and feta cheese. It’s perfect when you’re coming off of a high and feeling hungry.
Check out the Food Truck Rally
On the 3rd Wednesday of the month through October, from 5-8pm, the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market is hosting food trucks, food carts, and local pop-ups. There will also be live music. This is the perfect time to take a lovely walk, pick up dinner, and then head home to enjoy some flower with your food.
Host a summer bonfire with friends
If you have a private backyard, it is safe and legal to consume weed there. Try enjoying cannabis mocktails (you can get pre-made drinks at dispensaries or make your own with a tincture). Or check out some of these THC infused s’mores. All you need is an infused chocolate bar and your classic s’more ingredients.
Attend a conference
If you’re into roadtrip opportunities this summer, consider the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association summer conference in Northern Michigan, August 12-14! The conference promises to help you gain insight into Michigan’s burgeoning cannabis industry, network with leaders in the business, and have time to enjoy northern Michigan. There are networking breakfasts, pop-up parties, cocktail receptions and beach parties.
Closer to home is the Power Connections Cannabis Conference in Novi, November 19-20. It’s for industry professionals and is a business-to-business networking event, with 500+ attendees expected and over 75 sponsors and exhibitors. Find out more here!
A reminder of what’s legal and what’s not
You need to be 21+, and you can have up to 2.5oz a day on you, or up to 15 grams of a concentrate.
No one can get stoned in a car, even if you’re not driving. You can’t get stoned in public. But you can consume cannabis in a state park in your tent or camper (not in a public space). And licensed cannabis events are safe to consume at.
Your front yard counts as a public space if other people can see you, but if your backyard is private, it counts as a private space and it’s safe to consume there!
