Where to Drink for a Good Cause During Negroni Week

Running from June 6 to 12, Negroni Week, pays appropriate homage of one the most deceptively simple three-ingredient cocktails: the Negroni. Mixed with gin, Campari and vermouth, during the drink's official week, you can drink variations of these amazingly bittersweet libations in good conscious with a portion of your drink sale's proceeds going to the bar's good cause of choice.

Even if you didn't already order a Negroni yesterday, drink one (or several) for the good causes at the following Washtenaw County hospitality establishments:

The Ravens Club (207 S. Main St.) is serving up a special batched version of the classic Negroni mixed with an allspice- and pineapple-infused gin and Punt e Mes vermouth to benefit the Humane Society of Huron Valley

Sava's (216 S. State St.) kicked off its benefit to non-profit writing center 826 Michigan with a "Beer-groni" made with Bombay Sapphire dry gin, Campari, sweet vermouth and an effervescent splash of Bell's Two Hearted Ale.

Aventura (216 E. Washington St.) In the name of advancing writing at 826 Michigan, Aventura's vaunted barkeeps mixed a Negroni variation titled "A Rose for Emily" that featured Hendrick's gin, Salers aperitif over top of a Campari ice ball and garnished with a piece of Fernet-soaked grapefruit. (*mic drop*)

Redbrick Kitchen (8093 Main St., Dexter) holds it down in Dexter with a quasi-classic rendition on the rocks goes toward Food Gatherers, which helps feed our community's hungry people.

Even though Negroni week is veritable marketing holiday put on by Imbibe Magazine and Campari to sell more magazines and bitter liqueur, respectively, it's nonetheless a convenient excuse to contribute to the betterment of society.

Negroni Week runs from June 6-12 at participating bars, most of which will announce their participation through Instagram
