The Perfect Decadent Treat: Milkshake Factory Flavor Review

My favorite way to celebrate the end of the week is by treating myself to a sweet and Milkshake Factory did not at all disappoint. Milkshake Factory is located within the Westgate shopping center, perfect for a treat to take to the library, while running errands or just on the go.

The Milkshake Factory has locations throughout the country, however, its location at 326 S. Maple Rd., Suite 326, Ann Arbor, is the only in Michigan.

Although the shakes are primarily made with ice cream, in my experience, they stayed cold and creamy for over an hour. The five flavors I tried were all incredible and were a great combination of flavors. Below is a breakdown of what my thoughts were on each shake flavor.

Chocolate Cake Shake

This was chocolate cake in liquid form. That description does not fully describe how delicious this shake was. It was definitely the heaviest feeling shake that I tried but clearly had a significant amount of cake mixed in without being completely overwhelming. The texture was the most unlike the others and was definitely less creamy due to the mix-ins but this limited time shake is definitely a must-try. Adding a cake pop on top was the perfect “cherry” to this sweet treat.

PB Brownie with Cookie Dough Pieces

This shake really demonstrated how helpful the staff at Milkshake Factory is. When unsure of which flavor to choose between Peanut Butter Brownie and Cookie Dough Fudge, the staff advised to add cookie dough to the PB shake. This ended up being my favorite flavor and although adding the cookie dough pieces to the shake was an additional charge, it was a great mix-in in the already great shake. This treat had a great cut of salty PB with the sweetness of the brownie flavor.

Cookie Brownie Fudge

This is cookies and cream to another level. The addition of brownie and warm fudge is every chocolate-lover’s dream. The Cookie Brownie Fudge is absolutely the sweetest shake that I felt that I had so this is not the treat for someone who cannot handle a high level of sweetness. Even though the shake felt too sweet for me, the flavors married beautifully and were overall delicious.

Cookie Jar

This shake is an elevated cookie dough and cookies and cream milkshake with hints of peanut butter. I would say this shake out of the four gourmet options, was the least unique. To me, a cookies and cream milkshake lover, this just tasted like any other shake. There definitely were mix-ins of cookie dough and peanut butter but they mostly sank to the bottom, making a somewhat difficult drinking experience. This shake was still definitely great for someone who loves cookies and cream, but I might recommend just trying the classic flavor in the future instead.

Raspberry

To mix it up from my primarily chocolate-based milkshake palette, I got the raspberry shake. From 4-6pm on Thursdays is the franchise’s “Milkshake happy hour” where all classic milkshakes are $5, allowing me to get a delicious shake at a discount. This shake tasted exactly how I expected: like a fresh raspberry. Although this, of course, had ice cream in it, it was incredibly reminiscent of raspberry sorbet and would be perfect for anyone who wants a summer-y shake. I would probably still lean toward a chocolate-based flavor in the future but would definitely recommend this for someone who prefers fruity treats.

All of the signature shakes definitely could have been shared between two people while the classic Raspberry shake was notably lighter and less sugary tasting. The shakes may look a bit small, but they are incredibly thick and filling.

The signature treats at Milkshake Factory are notably more expensive than milkshakes at other similar establishments but are worth having due to the unique flavors, customizability and decadence.

Although I did not personally try the non-dairy flavors, the various options they offer are perfect for those with specific dietary needs or preferences, without compromising on taste.

For someone who is not in the mood for a shake, the store has a wide variety of tasty chocolate bark and other snack options.

From personal experience, their chocolate candy bark is a must-try for any chocolate candy lovers like me. The staff was incredibly kind in allowing me to taste test the bark and the store allows you to mix and match chocolate treat options. They also had some packaged chocolate-covered items which would be great to take home or for a gift.

Overall, Milkshake Factory is the place to be for anyone with a sweet tooth or just craving a sugary treat. The variety of options, expansive seating area and welcoming environment makes it perfect for families or groups of friends.
