Where to Find a Great Burger in the Ann Arbor Area

There’s nothing like enjoying a delicious, well-made burger, and in the Ann Arbor area, the city is full of amazing restaurants ready to serve you perfection on a bun. Whether it’s the legendary Zingerman’s Roadhouse or the longtime Ypsilanti staple at Roy’s Squeeze Inn, you can shape the toppings however you please, but here in Washtenaw County, deliciousness is undebatable. If you’re looking for some of the best burgers in the area, check out these establishments.

Frita Batidos Ann Arbor

The Ann Arbor Cuban restaurant is one of downtown’s most popular hot spots and with good reason. Between their atmosphere, which has outdoor seating, and their street food-inspired menu, their food is filling and tasty. The main event of their menu is the traditional Cuban burger, which offers up to 66 combinations, including the “Make It Loco” option, which comes with everything but jalapenos and bacon.

117 W Washington St, Ann Arbor. 734-761-2882.

Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger

304 S Ashley St, Ann Arbor. 734-663-4590

Any visit to Ann Arbor is incomplete without a stop at Blimpy Burger and its interactive ordering system, which is fun and fast-paced. However, their burgers are nothing short of iconic. Made in front of your face, you can order a burger with up to five patties, watch as the meat is smashed on the grill for those iconic crispy ends, and dress it how you like. We can not forget their plethora of side options, like crispy steak fries or delicious mixed veggies.

Zingerman’s Roadhouse

Zingerman’s touts itself as “Really Good American Food,” and after one visit to their beef-filled establishment, you will agree wholeheartedly. While the restaurant boasts a sizable menu, if you are looking for a mouthwatering burger, you must try their Roadhouse Burger. Words will not do the flavorful goodness of their dry-aged beef justice. It is everything you could and should want in a burger.

2501 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor. 734-663-3663.

Casey’s Tavern

Every pub should have a burger, and Casey’s Tavern offers one of the best. Avoiding the menu frills of adding a litany of signature burger options, opting to give the customer two delicious choices: their Over The Top Burger, made with bacon, jalapeno chutney, guacamole, fried egg, on a brioche bun, or their Impossible Burger, made with a plant-based patty. You will enjoy their hefty sandwich every time.

304 Depot St, Ann Arbor. 734-665-6775.

Roy’s Squeeze Inn

Ypsilanti is home to several incredible restaurants. However, when it comes to burgers, there is no place like Roy’s Squeeze Inn, a 1950s-style diner that serves burgers that are equally sizable as it is delicious. Their menu is simple, offering their classic squeeze burger in three sizes: little, quarter, and big. While we recommend getting your burger with all the fixings, we will warn you that you might fall in love at first bite.

1315 E Michigan Ave, Ypsilanti. 734-485-3999.

Jolly Pumpkin

The Jolly Pumpkin is known for its highlight of beverages, offering too many thirst-quenching drinks to count. But if you are searching for a delicious burger from its presentation to its taste, trying their JP burger is a must-have experience. Stacked high, covered with a beautiful coat of cheese, topped off with classic toppings, the JP burger is heaven on a bun. Please do not disregard the side pickle either. It’s a surprisingly sweet treat that blends with the savory sandwich.

311 S Main St, Ann Arbor. 734-913-2730.

Knights Steakhouse

Knights Steakhouse prides itself on culinary excellence. So it’s no wonder that each of their signature burger selections is regarded as some of the best sandwiches in the area. For our money, we recommend choosing from their specialized list with choices like the All-American Burger, which comes with your standard lettuce, tomatoes, and onions; the Butcher’s Burger on a brioche bun; or the Knight’s Burger, made with blue cheese, sautéed mushrooms and chives. There’s truly no wrong choice.

Blue Tractor

The Blue Tractor is all about BBQ and brews, so when it comes to their BBQ between bread selections, their highly rated BT Smash Burger stands out, and rightfully so. Made from a custom beef blend and their secret sauce, this variation of the smash burger is guaranteed to please. We can not forget the delicious sides. Each burger comes with house BBQ chips or your choice between fries, sweet potato fries, creamy slaw, Mac & cheese, braised greens, baked beans and brewer’s fries.

207 E Washington St, Ann Arbor. 734-222-4095.

There’s no shortage of filling, flavor, and burger deliciousness in the Ann Arbor area. So please, let us know which burger are you most excited to try!
