If you’re a fan of “Red, White and Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston, you’re in for a treat: Booksweet, 1729 Plymouth Rd., Ann Arbor, is hosting a book chat about the novel (and inevitablyhow the movie compares) on Friday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m.
How it works
Book chats at Booksweet are led by community members who are passionate about a book and eager to share their enthusiasm with others. The vibe is fun, informal and open to everyone. Bring a friend, family member or a date – it is the week of romance, after all.
“We wanted to do something with “Red, White, and Royal Blue” because the book continues to be so well-loved, the movie came out fairly recently, and it seemed like a good fit for February,” said Shaun Manning, owner of Booksweet.
“We’ve previously held discussions on James Baldwin’s ‘Go Tell it on the Mountain’ and Andrew Joseph White’s ‘Hell Followed with Us,’” Manning added. “We offer a couple discussion prompts to get folks started and then let the conversation go where it will. And we’re friendly and welcoming and don’t set ourselves up as the infallible experts on the book. It makes for a lively discussion.”
