If the seasonal darkness has you down, getting outside on a sunny day can be restorative. Consider taking a self-guided art walk through downtown Ann Arbor to check out the new outdoor murals.
The A2AC Murals project from Ann Arbor Art Center paired building and business owners with local, regional and national artists who transformed building walls into large, vibrant works of public art.
A2AC Murals
Bringing these murals to Ann Arbor was a community effort. It was made possible by the Lucie & Larry Nisson Art in Public Program. In 2020 and 2021, $50,000 was raised each year through Patronicity to pay artists and cover mural expenses. Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) then matched the donations, doubling the impact.
We went on a self-guided walking tour throughout the city which led us to several of the murals. Follow the tour and find your new favorite mural in Ann Arbor.
While nothing can shorten winter (except maybe that magical groundhog), these large, bright, vibrant works of public art can help take the edge off for anyone taking a stroll around downtown Ann Arbor.
