What makes your patio unique? The Roadhouse has a beautiful patio space that was renovated in 2025. It includes both interior and exterior patio spaces. The interior four-season Patio Atrium offers heated floors and a state of the art HVAC system that controls the ambient temperature so guests can be comfortable any time of year. With warm lighting, floor to ceiling windows, and eight skylights, the interior is a sought after space not only for daily dining, but also for private party rental through our Roadhouse Catering department. We also offer a section called the Atrium Meeting Space that can be closed off with a glass wall into a private meeting area. The Patio Atrium can also open up to connect with another large dining room, and both these spaces can be rented for a large event together.
The outdoor Patio Garden space offers seating with bright umbrellas, and the tables are surrounded by a fenced in garden including large planters of flowers, lush foliage, and herbs we use for some of our favorite dishes! This space can also be rented for private parties, either on its own or in conjunction with the interior Patio Atrium.

What makes your patio unique? Our patio seating is open year round, but summer is by far our favorite time of the year to see the patio full of happy, sandwich-eating guests. Our patio is LARGE, seating almost 150 people at full capacity. Most of the seating is shaded and you’re tucked away between our buildings, so it’s got its own vibe away from the streetscape. We also have an edible landscape in garden beds and planters around our patio spaces, with flowers, herbs, and vegetables providing beauty and also some tasty additions to some of our dishes.
Happy hour? We don’t serve alcohol, but we are always happy to see you!
Patio size/capacity? We have over 100 seats under a large tent and about 40 additional seats scattered around the patio area shaded by umbrellas. We also have an upper deck patio on the 2nd floor of our building that seats around 40.
Type of seating? There is a mix of patio tables with chairs that seat 2-4 people and larger picnic tables with benches that seat 6-8 people. We have multiple accessible seating options on the patio.
Live music and/or special events? We occasionally host live music and special tasting events on our patio throughout the warmer months. We post these events on our website at zingermansdeli.com/events
Table service? No
Reservations? No.
Must try drink: Michigan-made Northwoods fountain soda in a variety of flavors!
Must-try dish: Sandwiches, of course! Or if you’re an early bird, try our breakfast sandwiches and burritos from 7am-11am in our Next Door Café and enjoy your morning on our patio!
Sun factor: We have a large tent that covers a good amount of our outdoor seating. Most of the tables that are outside the tent have umbrellas.
Dog Friendly? YES! Bring your pups. We have a water hose with dog bowls so our pup friends can have a cool drink too!
Kid-friendly? For sure! We have a Just for Kids menu and dedicated kids play area (with seating for parents) with toys and chalk so kids can play and parents can stay!
Sam Hill

What makes your patio unique? Okay, I’ll try to talk fast here, there’s a lot to cover!
Sam Hill exists because the six-acre property allowed us to build the outdoor space of our dreams. We call it The Yard, and it is really something. The Yard at Sam Hill features a stage & a 16-tap bar built out of repurposed shipping containers, two large fire pits, lawn games available to borrow, tons of seating with shade sails strung overhead to beat the heat, all kinds of accommodations for four-legged friends (there’s even a doggie menu!), and, yes, frozen margaritas and soft serve ice cream. There are several rentable spaces, making it the perfect place to plan anything from a casual drop-in gathering to a full on wedding.
Oh, and we also have a large regular patio on our second story deck with covered awning & sun shades. The pups are welcome there too!
Happy hour? Anywhere inside the restaurant or on the attached deck, Happy Hour runs Monday-Friday 6-9pm, as well as a drinks-only Late HH from 8pm-close on Friday & Saturday. Oh and then all day on Wednesday. Lot’s of opportunities at that $7 burger!
In the Yard drinks are on HH all day Wednesday, and then on Thursday from 4-6pm it’s Happy Hour (Yappy Hour) for both humans and pups—drink specials and half off the doggie menu!
Patio size/capacity? Near infinite in The Yard! We convert it into a soccer field on Wednesdays and Saturdays for some context.
Type of seating? Lots of Adirondack style chairs clustered under sun umbrellas, picnic tables, and traditional tables & chairs.
Live music and/or special events? We feature great local music acts Thursday through Sunday every week (as long as the weather is cooperating!), and it’s always free. On Tuesdays we host Trivia out in The Yard, which is a blast. There are soccer & general athletics classes available from our partners at Soccer Stars & Amazing for kids on Wednesdays and Sundays in summer, and a weekly Yappy Hour meetup hosted by our friends at Dog Wizard Ann Arbor on Thursdays. There’s always something going on—check out our social media or the website for the latest!
Table service? Yes! Sometimes you just want traditional table service, and we’ve got you covered there too. The Deck attached to the main dining room offers a fully covered awning, sun shades, table service, and great people watching out in the yard from up on the second story. Pups welcome here too!
Reservations? The deck is built to serve big groups without you needing to pre-arrange things, but if your group is particularly large or you’d just feel better knowing where you’ll be, we offer three zones you can reserve that feature different amenities like a fire pit or completely covered seating.
Must try drink: We have our own beer (Sam Helles Lager) brewed for us by Wolverine Brewing, and it’s just right for a hot day. I’m also a huge fan of our house-made ginger beer spiked with a little tequila.
Must-try dish: The smash burger is a must, but don’t sleep on the Gluten-free fish & chips!
Sun factor: Lots of sun, and lots of places to hide from it!
Dog Friendly? You better believe it—they have their own menu featuring Pupcicles and Doggie Donuts! Pup stations and water bowls are there if you need ‘em!
Kid-friendly? The space is absolutely ideal for the whole family. They’ll be playing giant connect-four and having sack races on the lawn while you kick back in one of the Adirondacks and try one of those frozen margs!
