The Croswell Opera House in Adrian, Michigan Celebrates 160 Years with a Year-Long Community Celebration

The Croswell Opera House, is a historic landmark in downtown Adrian and is also Michigan’s oldest continuously operating theatre. They are celebrating their 160th anniversary in 2026 with a year-long series of special events. 

The anniversary celebration kicked off on March 19 with a 160th Birthday Party at the Croswell Opera House. Then on March 21, there was a family-friendly cake decorating event.

May 21: The great big night fundraising event

On May 21, the Croswell hosts The Great Big Night, its largest annual fundraising event and one of Adrian’s most anticipated social gatherings. This ticketed celebration includes delicious food, drinks, raffles, a silent auction and live entertainment.

July 11: Alleyway ice cream social before “George M”

Summer celebrations continue on July 11 with a free Alleyway Ice Cream Social downtown, held before the afternoon performance of George M. This event honors both the 160th anniversary of the Croswell Opera House and the 250th birthday of the United States.

August 7: Croswell family reunion 

On August 7, the Croswell welcomes the public to a Croswell Family Reunion, a free outdoor party celebrating the extended Croswell family of artists, volunteers, patrons and supporters. The event features live entertainment, food, drinks and opportunities to share memories. Guests are encouraged to bring photo albums and stories that reflect the Croswell’s long history.

December 12–13: Home for the holidays concert and gala 

The anniversary year concludes with the beloved Home for the Holidays concert on December 12 and 13 at the Croswell Opera House. On December 12, a special Holiday Gala will take place before the performance, featuring champagne and elegant bites. Tickets needed.
