Downtown Ann Arbor is about to get louder, livelier and a whole lot more country. Opening its doors on March 26, The Ranch Honky Tonk promises to deliver a high-energy nightlife experience centered on live music, cold drinks and packed dance floors. Located at 122 West Washington Street, the new venue aims to fill a gap in the city’s bar scene by offering something refreshingly simple: a true honky tonk built for music and movement.
A new kind of nightlife in Ann Arbor
While Ann Arbor is known for its craft breweries, cocktail lounges and sports bars, The Ranch sets itself apart by focusing on live country music and an unpretentious, high-energy atmosphere. Designed to feel like a gritty Midwest honky tonk, the space invites guests to let loose with boots on wood floors, drinks in hand and a live band playing songs everyone knows.
“Ann Arbor has plenty of places to grab a drink,” said General Manager Jerry McKinnie. “What we felt it needed was a cool spot with live bands, dancing and crowd out to have a great time.”
Live bands and late-night DJs
Music is at the heart of The Ranch. Live country bands will take the main stage Thursday through Sunday evenings, delivering the kind of performances that keep dance floors full. For those looking to keep the night going, a downstairs level will feature DJs spinning late into the night Thursday through Saturday.
Opening weekend is set to showcase a diverse lineup of talent, including The Townsmen, Double Wide Ride, Kari Holmes, the Mallery Lynn Band, Deer & Elk, Silver Exchange Band and Shelby & Jake. DJs Just B, MC Quan and Cowboy will bring additional energy to the late-night crowd.
Opening weekend perks
To celebrate its debut, The Ranch is offering exclusive perks for early visitors. The first 50 guests in line for the downstairs level each night from Thursday through Saturday will receive VIP lanyards. These come with benefits like free cover and special offers that extend through the end of 2026, adding extra incentive to arrive early and stay late.
Drinks, food and honky tonk flavor
The Ranch’s bar program sticks to the classics, featuring beer, whiskey, shots and cocktails. Signature offerings include Ranch Water and Blue Collar Light Beer, both brewed in-house. The drink menu is designed to keep the energy up and the lines moving.
“Live bands. Cold beer,” McKinnie said. “That’s really the whole idea behind The Ranch. It’s a place where people can show up with friends, hear songs they know and have a great time without overthinking it.”
Food options lean into Southwestern-inspired comfort fare, perfect for fueling a night out. Guests can expect dishes like Elotes Queso, Carne Asada Fries, Sonoran Dogs and a standout Bone-In Tomahawk Pork Chop.
A destination for music and community
With its focus on live music, dancing and an easygoing atmosphere, The Ranch Honky Tonk is positioned to become a go-to destination for students, young professionals and longtime country fans alike. Whether stopping in for a quick drink or settling in for a full night, guests can expect an experience built around connection, music and momentum.
As Ann Arbor welcomes this new addition, one thing is clear: The Ranch isn’t just opening a bar—it’s bringing a whole new rhythm to the city’s nightlife.
