Ann Arbor Summer Festival Is Back, June 12-28

The summer heat is a little early this year, but that’s okay, because Ann Arbor’s Ann Arbor Summer Festival is around the corner!  From June 12-28, Ann Arbor will be bursting at the seams with art, movement, crafts, parades and fun.

Food, drinks and entertainment

Check out Rackham Auditorium to see some of your favorite films!  The stunning auditorium is hosting a movie almost every night of the festival, featuring films that range from “Sinners” to “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  Hill Auditorium will be opening its doors as well, featuring plenty of live performances, including folk-rock musicians like the Avett Brothers and Mike Patton, rock & roll and genre-bending performers like We Are Scorpio, and Ann Arbor Summer Festival veterans Lady Sunshine and the X Band.

Many local businesses will also be hosting tastings—but don’t forget to RSVP if you want to attend.  Among these are Monahan’s, highlighting champagne and oyster tastings, and Griffin Claw, launching a new beer and bringing old favorites to sample. For those who do not drink or simply love a mocktail, Lowertown Bar and Cafe will be shaking and stirring zero-proof cocktails.

Ann Arbor Summer Festival also features opportunities to get outdoors and get moving. Step out of your comfort zone (or revel in it) with Swing Ann Arbor, Yoga for Every-BODY, or a retreat with World Dance Workout.

Family fun at Ann Arbor Summer Festival

If you’re looking for the whole family, there is no lack of activities for kids, too, with opportunities for kids to learn about climate and sustainability, jump around with their friends, or participate in crafts like sidewalk chalk (to name a few of many).  There will also be events for the whole family like SOUSAPALOOZA, a performance of John Philip Sousa’s greatest hits, performed by a group of all experience levels and led by a former director of the United States Marine Band.
