Fishing for Beginners

Come learn the basics of fishing on the shores of beautiful Kent Lake. Take advantage of this Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend and celebrate Father’s Day at the lake. The program will be held outdoor and participants will learn how to properly bait a hook, cast a line, and reel in a big fish. Make sure to bring a camera to snap a photo if you get a prize catch! We’ll even show you how to hold a fish for that perfect photo opportunity. We’ll also discuss some of the fish species that can be caught in Kent Lake. A fishing license is not required during this weekend. We will have several fly rods available to try out as well. All equipment and bait are provided. This program will be held at the West Boat Launch, where restrooms are available for post-fishing handwashing. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Fun for all ages! Time: 10 a.m. – noon Cost: $5 per person, children under 2 are Free!
